Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Central Energy Plant
Construction Category: Healthcare
Completion Date: Late 2009
Location: Sarasota, Florida

Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s central energy plant is the heart and the main arteries of the hospital. All mechanical functions that run SMH, from water to electricity to oxygen lines, are fed through this central energy plant. The state of the art facility is completely self-sufficient - if the city were to lose all power and utilites, the hospital would continue to be fully functional. As part of Sarasota Memorial’s campus-wide infrastructure redesign, the new central energy plant is required to upgrade the utility service on the campus and make a site available for construction of the new 10-story bed tower.
